Opening Geodes

March 21st, 2009 by admin

When you want to crack open a geode… one of the best ways is to use an old sock and a thin hammer, like a rock hammer. Find a nice smooth part and whack it, hard, but evenly. Smacking it again concrete or something like that tends to crumble them too much. One swift hard strike seems to result in the best cracking of most geodes.
